Riverside studio: Finding meaning in what’s around

 Artist in residence: Marisa Light

As a BIPOC artist my creativity explores themes of rootedness and being uprooted, invasiveness and invasion, and being displaced and a displacer.

I hold great love and reverence for my materials. I trust the land to offer itself as both the material and also as the co-creator for this work.

I invite you to dialogue about creativity, decolonization, and how to find healing for the land and each other.

My process:

Seek out Silence.
Create from Emptiness.
Make room to create. Make even more room.
Enter into a dialogue with my materials, treating them with reverence and honor.
Share the Process, and engage with feedback.
Listen to the feedback from the piece itself.
Love what I am building, love it more and more.

Loving myself, more and more.
Openness and curiosity
Allowing the process and the creation to enfold in its time
